hook_entity_info() allows a(ny) module to override the class being used for a particular entity type; e.g., you can replace the Node class with a Node2 class to change its fundamental implementation or tweak its built-in behavior. — We're trying to figure out whether Drupal 8 core contains one abstraction layer too much.
